391 youth from the four communities of Masindi, Tecwaa, Yelekeni and Bedmot who are both in and out of school were counseled and guided on career choices, they were made aware of the different available vocational courses, institutions offering such skills, the kind subjects one needs to study to achieve their aspirations and clearing the misconceptions around vocational studies. Also, life skills such as decision making, self-awareness, self-control were imparted to the youth. This made the youth to understand their roles and responsibilities as children in homes and how to prepare for ones’ career, many youths who are working in the informal and formal sectors were advised on how to handle their client/customers and those who have dropped out of school were prioritized for attachment in the next FY. One of the Youth Brian Atugonza (not real name) in his words said “

“Being a part of this program taught me more about myself and what my career should be, it gave me the ability to distinguish between my interests, abilities, and the possibility of choosing the most appropriate career”.


48 Youth in the FY were attached for vocational skills training to study courses such as agriculture and animal production, water resource management, vehicle mechanics, motor cycle repair and maintenance, hair dressing, tailoring, salon, catering building and concrete practices among others at Kyema vocational institute, Bukalasa Agriculture training institute, Adonia vocational Centre, Ndeeba training and auto spare centre, Kiryandongo Technical institute, Redeemer vocational institute to mention, these trainings equipped the youth skills that will enhance their becoming self-reliant. Similarly, 24 youth who underwent training in hair dressing, Tailoring, Motor vehicle mechanics and motorcycle repair and maintenance were supported with startup tools to aid them in their workshops. “I always wanted to be a tailor.
